Madison Yellowstone Missouri
How’s this: two days of fishing near Bozeman on the Madison and Yellowstone, with an additional two days on the Missouri. Why the Missouri? Well, there are 5,000 – 6,000 trout per mile near Craig, and half of them are longer than 15 inches.
The Missouri River
The Missouri River: Got Fish? You betcha!
A short drive from Helena, the most prolific section of the river is a 30-mile long stretch between Holter Dam and Cascade. That’s where state biologists discovered that 24 percent of the 5,000 fish per mile that inhabit the Missouri are larger than 18 inches, and 85 percent are over 15 inches. Beaverhead Big Hole
From its headwaters below the Clark Canyon reservoir the Beaverhead River produces more large brown trout than any other in Montana. The average fish size in the upper river ranges between 18 - 21 inches. Just up the road from The ‘Beav, the Big Hole River also enjoys a reputation as being filled with trophy sized brown and rainbow trout, along with a nice population of Cutthroat. Caddis are a mainstay, as are nymphs, until streamer season occurs in early fall.

The "Miracle Mile" North Platte
After two trips to the flyfishing mecca, the North Platte River, we’re adding the "Miracle Mile" to our bag of tricks. The stretches closest to Casper, Wyoming were recently named “The #1 Big Fish Destination” by American Angler Magazine.
Consistent flows and temperatures that propagate aquatic insects that are the diet for the 3,000 to 5,000 trout per mile in this neighborhood. These are healthy, strong and - yes – big fish.
